Even though Roman Reigns was “injured” on this past Monday’s Raw, he still managed to show up and spear Braun Strowman through a table over the weekend. So, why did an “injured” and “not medically cleared” Roman Reigns be allowed to show up at a live event? It really all comes down to promotion.
Reigns was carried out on a stretcher on Monday, so you would think that WWE would keep him off of the weekend’s live events to give their angle from Raw a little credibility. But they decided to have him show up, and on Saturday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained why.
“They didn’t do a match last night or tonight because the idea was that [Roman Reigns] wasn’t cleared. So Braun Strowman cuts a promo and then Roman Reigns isn’t cleared, then Reigns’ music hits and he comes out, and he’s all taped up, and they have a big brawl and it ends up with Roman putting him through a table and that’s how they end it.
“The feeling is that they didn’t want to do house shows without him because he’d been advertised all along, so they didn’t false advertise. I mean, I noticed that they didn’t pull him from any of the advertising. They just felt that was the way to go with it. I don’t know that he’ll be on TV this week, but he might be.”
Roman Reigns is being advertised for this coming Monday’s Raw, so it looks like he’s going to be there.
