In recent weeks, WWE has reportedly shaken up their plans for WrestleMania 33, and matches — like John Cena vs. Undertaker for example — that were originally scheduled to happen, now won’t be happening.
Even before WWE shook up their WrestleMania 33 card, it was quite difficult to figure out who would be AJ Styles’ opponent in Orlando on April 2. But, according to a new report, it looks like he could end up facing off against one of WWE’s biggest names.
Back at SummerSlam, it looked like WWE was building towards a Brock Lesnar vs. Shane McMahon match, but then plans for that match were cancelled after Bill Goldberg decided to do more than just one match. Then, it looked like they were building towards Shane vs. Dean Ambrose, but now it looks like Dean will work with The Miz on April 2. Now though, according to Pro Wrestling Unlimited, Shane will work with AJ Styles at this year’s WrestleMania.
Styles is currently scheduled to defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against John Cena at the Royal Rumble later this month. Many are expecting The Phenomenal One to drop the title, and if he’s actually going to wrestle Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 33, he should drop the title.

If you look at the current SmackDown roster, there’s really no one for Styles to face other than Shane, unless they bring up someone like Shinsuke Nakamura or Samoa Joe.
