We recently learned that Brock Lesnar is interested in fighting again, and that he might end up leaving WWE after his current deal expires following WrestleMania 34.
On Thursday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer discussed Lesnar’s current situation, and whether or not he’ll return to the UFC when his WWE deal expires, or if he’ll actually end up retiring from everything next spring.
Alvarez: “I heard people talking about Brock being done at Mania, but I didn’t hear two and two put together where he’s leaving WWE because he’s going back to UFC. The impression I got from hearing that was, he wants to do a huge money UFC fight, probably at the end of this year, make a ton of money, and finish up this contract with WWE and then he’d just be done. Like, not going back to UFC, but just, he made his money, he’s 40 years old, and he’s done.”
Meltzer: “Yeah, I don’t have that impression at all. My impression is that he’s gonna do what he does, which is gonna be that he’ll hear both sides, he’s gonna get the numbers up, and then he’s gonna do what he’s gonna do.”
Lesnar, who just turned 40, could still be a top contender in the UFC’s heavyweight division. Could he actually win the title though? Probably not, but there are still a ton of that he can beat.
There is a rumor going around which suggests that Lesnar will return to the UFC in November, when the company heads to Madison Square Garden. However, that would be impossible, as Lesnar’s suspension won’t end until five months after he’s re-entered the USADA drug testing pool. So, if he re-enters today, the soonest he’ll be able to fight will be in late-December.
