When Shinsuke Nakamura made his NXT debut last spring, he proved that he was clearly ready for the main roster on night one. But, for whatever reason, WWE has decided to leave the King of Strong Style down in NXT for a year, even though they have severe depth issues on the main roster.
Triple H recently tweeted out a poster for the upcoming NXT UK tour, and the poster was missing one huge name: Shinsuke Nakamura. This got everyone thinking that the former NXT Champion is going to be called up to the main roster soon. But, a couple of days later, WWE said that he will be a part of the UK tour, so his debut might not happen right after WrestleMania.
In this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer talked about Nakamura being added to the UK tour, and whether or not that means he won’t debut on the main roster anytime soon.
“Nakamura to main roster talk may subside since Nakamura was now announced for the June NXT European tour after first not being scheduled, but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. He could debut on the main roster and still do the NXT tour. It’s two months after Mania but the original ticket sales for the U.K. tour were disappointing and that’s why he was added to the tour. That would seem to indicate the plans are still for him to be on the main roster before that time, which we were told was the case, but it also could mean they could delay it. He was already scheduled for NXT house shows in the U.S. through late April.”
