I can’t get enough Gentleman Jack Gallagher.
The “10-year overnight success” from Manchester, England, is a teacup filled to the brim with charm, charisma, and a nice set of wrestling skills. He’s holds a degree in philosophy and was seriously considering giving up his dream to become a professional wrestler when the WWE finally came calling (he was going to become a — wait for it — teacher). He’s also had an eye on an MMA career, but claims to be perfectly happy right now working his way through the WWE cruiserweight division.
Gallagher’s fighting style is a lot like his personality. Just check out the way he ties Akira Tozawa in a knot, then pops up off the mat and gives the ref a “Who, me?” grin, followed by a pleased-with-himself tour about the ring.
Personally, I think Gallagher is the right guy at the right time for the WWE. At first, you might think he’s a guy you’d love to hate. But the more you give him a chance, the more you realize he’s incredibly sincere. He’s not talking down to you, he’s just a really smart guy who has a few quirks.
Who else could quote Rudyard Kipling (author of The Jungle Book) while being interviewed before a big match? This guy:
I have a feeling we’re going to hear a lot more from Gallagher over the next few months. He may be flying under a lot of radars right now, but his character and charm are undeniable. As I said at the start, I can’t get enough Jack Gallagher.
