Since his return to WWE television, Drew McIntyre has established himself as a major player. His run with the NXT Championship wasn’t great, but an injury derailed his run with the brand before he moved to Raw after WrestleMania 34. The partnership with Dolph Ziggler was a surprise, but their run has been extremely successful over the year.
However, the WWE Universe sees McIntyre has a major player and it’s only a matter of time before he breaks out. A rivalry with Roman Reigns over the WWE Universal Title is inevitable, but the fans don’t know when it’s coming. According to a report from Rajah, WWE officials are grooming McIntyre for a major push heading into WrestleMania 35.

The feud with Roman Reigns is a given, but it’s unclear if McIntyre will win the WWE Universal Championship. There’s also some talk of a huge babyface turn for him that is expected to create feuds with Ziggler and Braun Strowman. On paper, McIntyre versus Strowman may be the feud for both men at WrestleMania if they’re not in the title hunt.
Anyone can see there is great potential and money in Drew McIntyre as a main eventer in the near future. That’s a huge vote of confidence from WWE officials on Raw because he could be in a different position if he’s moved to SmackDown Live after WrestleMania 35. On “the blue brand,” there’s a greater chance of McIntyre capturing the WWE Title.
There could be some debate about whether or not Drew would work better as a heel or as a babyface. In theory, a babyface turn might take away what has recreated McIntyre in the eyes of the WWE Universe.
