At Survivor Series, SmackDown Live didn’t win a match during the event against Raw. A single win during the pre-show doesn’t count for the storyline. The expectation was that Shane McMahon would make “big changes” to the brand following the embarrassment that was Survivor Series. However, last Tuesday evening’s show was business as usual.
Instead of reacting to the situation, Shane got involved with The Miz and had a bizarre angle during a tag team match. According to a report from PWInsider, Thanksgiving is the reason why WWE officials kept Shane McMahon from “punishing” SmackDown for its failure at Survivor Series. The belief is fans could have been distracted by the holiday to start a new angle like that. Therefore, WWE decided to wait another week to do it.

The important thing to develop is the heel turn for Shane O’Mac that began after WWE Crown Jewel. The angle should be perfect for building some heat on him considering he could blame top babyfaces or even the General Manager Paige for SmackDown’s failure two weeks ago. There’s a lot that can be done to make McMahon look like the bad guy.
WWE officials also didn’t believe that a close win for Raw at Survivor Series would have been enough to make those “big changes” necessary. As of this writing, it’s unclear what those changes are going to be. However, it’s unlikely that WWE officials are going to let another week go by without advancing the storyline and plating more seeds for Shane.
Whatever WWE officials have planned for Shane McMahon heading into 2019, there is going to be a dramatic shift in his character. Aside from The Miz, it’s unclear who else Shane will be feuding with heading into the grandest stage of them all next year.
