This past weekend, Shinsuke Nakamura officially signed his WWE contract for an extended her with NXT and all indications are he’ll do the same on the main roster.
The details of his deal are starting to come to light after signing the deal. The first thing that needs to be acknowledged is even though he’s going for a lengthy run in NXT, he’s going to be the first superstar for that brand to be making “main event” level money from WWE.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, it isn’t being reported exactly how much he is making, and we likely won’t know the exact number. But, if WWE is willing to drop that kind of money to sign him, they obviously are going to make him a top draw for the company immediately.
In this case, he’ll be a top star for NXT. The question is for how long because it hasn’t been confirmed how long WWE is planning to have the “King of Strong Style” in NXT.
Nakamura’s signing has been treated like a major sports story in Japan. Over a hundred reporters and other press were there for the official press conference in Tokyo earlier this week.
WWE has really been embracing Japanese superstars recently and with the WWE Network launching in Japan, it seems WWE is working very hard and spending a lot of money to attract that audience.
It’s very likely we’ll be seeing another WWE live event from Japan again this year after the success of “Beast in the East” last year. A returning Hideo Itami, AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, Finn Balor, and others should make that an incredible show.
Do you believe Nakamura will be a huge star in WWE?
