On Monday Night Raw, John Cena returned to WWE and was confronted by The Phenomenal AJ Styles. It was a segment that was over ten years in the making and it didn’t disappoint.
It seemed like Styles would challenge Cena to a match, and then they’d respectfully wrestle until a winner could be decided, but Styles turned heel by attacking Cena and reforming “The Club” with Anderson and Gallows.
Now, we’re finally going to get to see Cena vs. Styles in the same ring, and it will be the match of a generation, but the debate about when that match will take place.
According to a report from RingSideNews.com, Vince McMahon wants to book Cena vs. Styles as soon as possible, which would most likely result in their first match at “Money in the Bank” in less than three weeks.
However, a lot of WWE officials are in his ear telling him to postpone such a huge match for “Summerslam” and let Cena feud with Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows over the next two months.
While John Cena vs. AJ Styles for the first-time is a perfect selling point for “Summerslam” PPV, the feud has already been kick-started and Pandora’s Box has been opened already.
The fact is we could see Cena vs. Styles at “Money in the Bank” and at “Battleground” before we have the third and final match at “Summerslam.” On paper, an epic trilogy is better than just one high profile match.
