Kurt Angle remains a free agent in the wrestling world. Other than making a couple of one-off appearances here and there, he’s been out of the ring, and there has been little news out of his camp.

Now, Angle has been very vocal about a potential return to WWE. He’s said he’d be honored to return, especially for the WWE Hall of Fame. It seems that Vince McMahon doesn’t feel the same.

According to a report from Inquisitir.com, Vince McMahon is “strongly” against Kurt Angle returning to WWE again because of his history of substance abuse.

Kurt has been sober for almost two years now, but the reputation is what Vince is talking about, especially for something like the WWE Hall of Fame.

The following was said by Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer:

“It’s doubtful that WWE will bring in Kurt Angle. Vince is real strong on not hiring him, and he’s got his reasons why. He feels if something bad happens to Kurt it’ll really hurt the company because of his status as a gold medalist, and a real sports figure, and then people will start asking questions, and they’ll have sponsor issues. But, if Kurt isn’t under their watch and something happens, then they’ll be fine.”
