The debut of Primo and Epico’s new gimmick was given a lot of time to develop. Last October, both men were taken off WWE television, and the Los Matadores gimmick was completely scrapped.
It’s amazing that it took over seven months to come up with “The Shining Star” gimmick considering the essence of it is simply, “We’re from Puerto Rico.”
In all honesty, if Primo and Epico were talking about the wrestling in the country, going through the history, and their heritage. That could totally work, but they’re not doing that.
The WWE Universe isn’t looking for great food, nightlife, or anything they’re selling. They want in-ring action and entertainment, which is something their debut a few weeks ago lacked. It makes sense that WWE officials were upset.
According to a new report from RingSideNews.com, Vince McMahon has apparently totally given up on the gimmick, and it looks like Primo and Epico could have been better off as Los Matadores.
Okay, we’ve acknowledged that “The Shining Stars” gimmick isn’t going to work. At a certain point, you can’t blame them for trying. However, they need to figure out something fast because they could be the next superstars on the chopping block.
Do you think “The Shining Stars” gimmick could work if they show the wrestling history of Puerto Rico?
