Last night on Raw, Kevin Owens faced Roman Reigns inside a steel cage in the main event of the show. He ended up losing the match to Roman, and Seth Rollins had a huge spot by jumping off the top of the cage.
The match was announced to start Raw, but many people were curious why WWE would book the current WWE Universal Champion in a match that dangerous only six days before “Clash of Champions?”
According to a report from RingSideNews.com, the reason why WWE officials booked Owens vs. Reigns to be inside a steel cage was an attempt to help boost ratings for the third hour of Raw.
The Raw ratings have been dropping, which has been especially true for the last hour of Raw, so WWE wants to hold interest in the show because now people can change the channel to Monday Night Football.
Three hours of Raw is a lot to ask of the WWE Universe sometimes. That’s a lot of content for the fans to watch on Monday alone. The rest of the week is full, especially when it’s a PPV week.
Do you think a cage match was a good idea for Raw’s main event last night?
