Last night on Raw, Sami Zayn defeated Rusev to earn the right to face Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Championship at “Survivor Series.” It’s a great thing for Sami Zayn because now he can finally be featured in an exciting match, even if he’s going to lose.

I’ve been advocating for Zayn to get an opportunity for awhile now, so I’m not trying to seem unsatisfied, but I had other ideas for Ziggler’s open challenge to Raw. I thought it was a good chance for a star from NXT to debut and steal the IC title from SmackDown.

After NXT Takeover: Toronto the night before, wouldn’t it have been something to have Mick Foley come out after Ziggler, and present Raw’s newest signing. I’m going to use Bobby Roode as an example, but he’s one of many who could have made their debut.

Personally, I’m all about the midcard titles changing brands on a regular basis. I think it is a cool idea to create competition between the brand rather than fighting for bragging rights a few times a year. This could have been a long term feud between brands.

There is still the rumor going around that the winner of the big elimination match will be able to steal three stars from the other brand. SmackDown could have taken the IC title and Raw’s newest star back the next night. However, Zayn vs. Ziggler is safe.
