Obviously, the finals of the No.1 Contender Tag Team tournament didn’t go as planned at “Payback.” Enzo Amore suffered a concussion that stopped the match after only a few minutes.
Now, Enzo will be out of action for the foreseeable future. Big Cass is on his own, and The Vaudevillians have become the No.1 Contenders for The New Day’s WWE World Tag Team Championships.
According to a report from DailyWrestlingNews.com, the original plan for the match at “Payback” always had The Vaudevillians winning to become the new No.1 Contenders and feud with The New Day going into “Extreme Rules.”
The rumors seemed like we’d be seeing The Dudley Boyz interfering to cost Enzo and Cass the match, but the former’s injury cost the PPV that angle and feud all together.
Now, there is a lot up in the air in the tag team division because Enzo and Cass were thriving on the main roster. It’s true that they’ll be back and better than ever because Enzo’s injury will cause sympathy for the team, but now WWE has to figure out what’s next for the tag team division.
With Enzo and Cass out for the short term, The Dudley Boyz are without a feud. What WWE will do next will depend on how long Enzo Amore has to be kept off WWE programming and out of the ring.
Do you think The Vaudevillains will become the new WWE World Tag Team Champions?
