Chris Jericho’s heel turn finally came full circle last night on Raw. He turned on AJ Styles after the pair lost their WWE Tag Team Championship match to The New Day.
The loss was expected by many in the WWE Universe, but a heel turn for Chris Jericho wasn’t as obvious, and it was a great surprise to see Y2J actually feature a character change for this year’s Wrestlemania.
The only issue is that we’ve seen three big matches between Jericho and Styles already. The two have also been teaming together, so it’s curious why WWE would want us to have AJ vs. Y2J IV at Wrestlemania.
However, this could end up being a great opportunity to do something we haven’t seen at Wrestlemania in a very long time.
What if Jericho vs. Styles occurs one last time on the grandest stage of them all, but this time, it’ll be a thirty-minute Ironman match to determine who truly is the best of the two.
There has no been an Ironman match at Wrestlemania since the very first one between Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania 12.
It would be a great nod to history and showcase two of the best wrestlers of all time in a historic match.
An Ironman match would be something new to add to Jericho’s resume. It’s exactly what AJ Styles should be doing in WWE, and it’s such a rarity to see at Wrestlemania while WWE has the time on the card to spare. It would honestly make an amazing opener as well.
