The brand split has created a lot of questions. Creating both rosters to be competitive is going to be the most difficult part of the entire process, but there are some interesting match-ups.
However, WWE has relied on part-timers for quite a few years. Regardless of what you think about that, it’s how WWE currently is, so that creates a unique problem.
Do part-time performers like Brock Lesnar get drafted like everyone else?
One of the most common complaints that WWE fans have about the brand split is the fact that rosters mostly have to compete within, and there are far fewer opportunities for feuds.
With part-timers, doesn’t it make sense for them to remain “undrafted” and be able to move between Raw and SmackDown to be able to move from feud to feud?
For instance, wouldn’t Brock Lesnar be more of an asset to the company as a guy that could appear on either show at any time?
That’s really exciting for WWE programming and won’t hold Lesnar back based on injuries or whatever else comes up with the roster. It’ll provide him more options than having to be pushed into a feud that may not be as good as another one “if only” he were on SmackDown instead of Raw.
That could work for all part-timers from The Undertaker to Triple H to John Cena if he comes back on a part-time basis. If WWE is going to rely on part-timers as much as they do, It makes sense for them to allow them to be free of a brand to make the product more exciting and add star power where necessary.
They’d be hyped bench players that would make PPVs must see, especially if they can enter any feud at any time. WWE will do trades and free agency angles to change rosters up from time to time, so this will be a more effective way of doing that.
Where do you think Brock Lesnar and other part-timers fit into the brand split?
