The New Day have been the WWE World Tag Team Champions for two hundred and ninety-six days as of today, which is remarkably impressive.
You’d like to think that The New Day have made their point and would be able to lose the titles without losing any momentum. However, them losing the titles isn’t even about them anymore. It’s about the other team.
The boost from being the team to finally dethrone The New Day and become the WWE Tag Team Champions is a big opportunity for another group to emerge as a superpower in WWE’s tag team division.
This Sunday at “Money in the Bank,” the titles will be defended against Enzo and Cass, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows of The Club, and The Vaudevillians.
On one hand, it’s a great opportunity for a title change because The New Day don’t technically need to be in the decision to lose the titles. However, their reign has been so long and has so much momentum that it’s the wrong time for them to lose the titles.
In my opinion, it’s necessary for The New Day to put over a team the right way by being beaten specifically by one team that gets the better of them.
It makes that team look much stronger than getting lucky against three other opponents. In my mind, it diminishes the entire title reign without a final result that sends it into the next chapter.
Do you think we’ll see a title change at “Money in the Bank” on Sunday?
