Over the coming weeks, the “Cruiserweight Classic” is bringing the style back to WWE. We’re still in the first round, but the series is going to pick up a lot of momentum in the later rounds when the matches get bigger.
The expectation is the series will culminate with the finals of the tournament crowning a new Cruiserweight Champion, who will take the title to Raw and establish Raw’s new Cruiserweight division.
It’s going to be interesting to see who WWE pulls out of the tournament because we know that Kota Ibushi and Gran Metalik have both been signed to WWE deals.
However, there are still several cruiserweights in the series that could be signed, including Zack Sabre, Brian Kendrick, Cedric Alexander, and others.
There is so much talent involved in this new division that you have to wonder who else will be involved and exactly how big Raw’s Cruiserweight division will be every week.
If you look at the main roster, guys like Sami Zayn and Neville are essentially the midcard faces, who are too small to be in the powerhouse game of the United States title and are being used to put over the main event plays like Zayn did last night with Seth Rollins in a great match.
The Cruiserweight division is a good place for them to make their make, plus with the talent pool WWE has coming in from the CWC, there are some really cool matches that we could see on Raw every week.
Do you think Sami Zayn and Neville should get involved with Raw’s Cruiserweight division?
