On Monday Night Raw, Neville was in a match with Chris Jericho. During the match, Neville performed a baseball slide and clearly suffered an injury to his foot.
It was confirmed yesterday that Neville suffered a broken shinbone and a broken ankle during the match. The expectation was that The Man That Gravity Forgot would miss Wrestlemania due to being out indefinitely.
According to Wrestlinginc.com, Neville underwent more tests at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, and it’s being reported that he won’t need surgery.
WWE’s Dr. Chris Amann has determined that he is expected back into the ring in two to three months. Unfortunately, Neville will be a scratch for Wrestlemania 32 that is less than three weeks away.
Amann made the following statement to WWE.com:
“Neville had some repeat testing done in Orlando today which included X-Rays and a cat scan of his ankle. Upon further review, it has been determined that surgical repair of the ankle would not be necessary. Instead, he will be treated nonoperatively with a cast and crutches. The estimated return for this type of fracture is usually 2 to 3 months.”
It’s an unfortunate injury at the most unfortunate time for Neville. The Breakout Star of the Year will be missing the biggest show of the year.
We can now just add Neville to the list of injured WWE superstars that will make their return this summer and give WWE a massive boost of talent. The difference between the WWE product now and what the product will be at Summerslam is going to be night and day.
