Something is extremely wrong within New Japan Pro Wrestling because the promotion has been lost so much of its top talent that it’s become a shell of the powerhouse it used to be only a few months ago.
The company famously lost AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, and others earlier this year. This month, the company announced that they will no longer be offering short-term deals and are now looking to sign talents to multi-year contracts. That’s lead to other talents leaving.
Today, NJPW has taken another big hit because Kota Ibushi is leaving the company to become a freelancer for multiple promotions rather than sign an exclusive deal.
According to the report from Wrestlinginc.com, the physical and mental stress that Ibushi has been under working for two companies is too much of a commitment and he’s chosen to work without a contract rather than having to choose one promotion over the other.

What’s interesting is there was a report just yesterday that Kenny Omega stayed in NJPW and turned down three WWE offers because he wanted to work with Kota Ibushi.
As of this writing, there is no word on Ibushi’s long-term plans in the business and if he’s interested in following a lot of former NJPW talents to the United States and WWE.
