A few weeks ago, King Barrett discussed his desire to be a part of WWE’s tag division. In an interview with The Sun Newspaper in the United Kingdom, Barrett had the following to say:
“I would really like to go into the tag division,” Barrett said. “It isn’t something I’ve done very much in the past. Pretty much consistently since I’ve been with WWE since 2010 I’ve been the bad guy singles wrestler so I would like to do something a little different.
“I’ve always feel like I play off people well and I was hoping the run with Stardust might last a little bit longer. But going back, I know there’s a few guys that are kind of in the doldrums at the moment career-wise so maybe pairing up with someone new and trying to go in a completely different direction to what I’ve done before is the next step for me.”
While King Barrett and Sheamus were discussed on this site previously as a potentially good tag team, there are some issues with these two being paired together. The biggest problem is the Money in the Bank contract that Sheamus holds and can cash in at any time to become WWE Champion.
Barrett and Sheamus will be good together for the time being, but if Sheamus cashes in successfully, it’s very likely Barrett will be left behind in the midcard. Unless WWE has plans to have The King and The Champion as a dominant heel tag team in the division, recent reports state that they have different ideas.
