Having Johnny Gargano in NXT is really cool. It’s unfortunate that it is so unlikely for him to make it to the main roster, but having him wrestle alongside Tommaso Ciampa is very cool to see as a wrestling fan.
In fact, their chemistry is so good. WWE thought it would be a fun idea to have the two men face each other in the first round of the “Cruiserweight Classic.”
According to a report from DailyWrestlingNews.com, something that was supposed to be fun has suddenly become potentially tragic.
Apparently, during the match with Ciampa, Johnny Gargano appeared to suffer a leg injury that was described by the report as “a scary spot.” He sold the injury for most of the match.
Gargano was flipping onto his opponent from outside the ring, but his legs hit the timekeeper’s table and some other objects around it. He finished the match, but had to be helped to the back by officials.
There is no word on the severity of Johnny Gargano’s injury, but he’s expected to keep teaming with Ciampa on NXT programming and possibly challenge The Revival for the NXT Tag Team Championship in Brooklyn.
