For the first time in twelve years, John Cena will not have a match at this year’s Wrestlemania. In fact, the shoulder injury that is causing him to miss the first Mania of his career will also be forcing him to miss much more time than expected.

According to several sources, including DailyWrestlingNews.com, Cena’s rehab and recovery are not progressing as fast as they should be. Because of that, the fifteen time WWE World Champion is going to miss Wrestlemania won’t be eligible to return to WWE until July.

That will force John Cena to miss the biggest show of the year, “Payback”, “Extreme Rules”, and “Money in the Bank” this year. The rumor is Cena could return for “Battleground” on July 24th, but it’s likely that WWE would hold that return off until Summerslam.

What’s unique is that Cena is usually ahead of schedule with his recovery and return from injury. He just hit the three hundred and fifty-hour mark for his shoulder rehab.

Despite his return being pushed back, he’s still expected to make some kind of appearance in Dallas for Wrestlemania in a non-wrestling role.

The fact is that John Cena is getting older and over a dozen years of wrestling have taken their toll. He’s no doubt returning to the ring, but the question is how much longer will Cena be able to go in the ring, especially if he suffers one more fatal injury like this one.

Do you think it’s time for John Cena to retire?
