This criticism is a popular one, but it’s become so cliche to acknowledge how poor the commentary can be on Monday Night Raw sometimes that it’s almost easier to watch the show on mute.
However, one of the great things about the rebranding of Smackdown has been the voice work of Mauro Ranallo and Jerry Lawler’s return to being the heel commentator. When he was asked about it, The King said the following about why he turned heel again at the table:

King is right. When you have three announcers that are all saying the same thing, two become unnecessary.
It’s good that Smackdown has been able to find a greater purpose for King because his face commentary was lacking on Raw and PPVs for years.
His voice still holds a lot of value for the WWE Universe because he’s been doing the job for a long time. WWE programming wouldn’t be the same without The King telling corny jokes or picking on the faces.
