Earlier this week, Finn Balor set the record for the longest NXT Championship reign in history at two hundred and ninety-two days. The issue with setting a record like that is it only becomes finalized once you are officially defeated for your championship.
It’s been well documented that is exactly what Samoa Joe did earlier this week during an NXT live event in Lowell, Massachusetts. It was hugely unexpected, but there were greater concerns for Balor who seemed to have suffered an injury during the match.
While performing a corner dropkick during the match, Balor appeared to have legitimately injured himself. After dropping his title to Joe, he unlaced his boot while still in the ring. That is an indication that the injury was part of the match.
After the match, Balor took a bow, “too sweeted” the fans, and was then helped to the back. However, he was later seen walking fine on his own after the show.

If Balor was banged up, it wasn’t too bad. It also doesn’t stall the possibility of him debuting on Monday Night Raw this week or maybe “Payback.” Of course, he has his rematch against Samoa Joe to try to reclaim the NXT Championship. We’ll have to wait to see what the next move is for Finn Balor.
Would you prefer Finn Balor stay in NXT or go to the main roster?
