In many situations, it really doesn’t matter who wins and who loses in a big match. Of course, it matters a great deal regarding momentum and other factors, but some matches are just about the show, and it’s impossible for anyone to lose anything win or lose.

For example, does it really matter who wins in AJ Styles vs. Chris Jericho? Sure, Styles should win for obvious reasons, but Jericho winning wouldn’t be unbelievable.

However, Dean Ambrose vs. Brock Lesnar is not one of those matches. On paper, it could be one of those matches, but there is just too much on the line for Ambrose not to walk away from a win.

Honestly, what does Lesnar gain from winning? On the other hand, Ambrose is thriving right now and is arguably the most popular face in the company. A loss to Lesnar may not seem like a big deal because he lost a match to Brock friggin’ Lesnar but it is a huge momentum killer.

If Ambrose defeats The Beast, it’s a career maker, and he’ll basically have to be pushed into the title picture just on momentum alone. That win will slingshot him into the Money in the Bank contract and probably the main event of Summerslam. However, a loss tonight could make that all go away.

It’ll be a great and brutal match that could end up having no effect on Ambrose’s momentum, but a win does so much more for his career. Not to mention Brock Lesnar hasn’t lost cleanly since Wrestlemania 29 and is more than due to put someone over. Ambrose should be that guy. It’s the right time.

Do you think Dean Ambrose should defeat Brock Lesnar?
