Austin Aries is the “Greatest Man That Ever Lived.” Very few wrestling fans who know him well would deny that, but that doesn’t mean he can’t show up for work.
Last night, NXT had a live event in Indianapolis, Indiana. The show was supposed to have Austin Aries vs. Hideo Itami on it, but the former had other plans.
Instead, Aries was replaced by Angelo Dawkins for an unknown reason. There has been no word on where Aries was or if there is any punishment. It’s very odd for a fifteen-year veteran to just “no-show.”
However, Austin Aries also didn’t appear during Wednesday’s NXT tapings for the next four weeks of NXT programming. NXT Takeover: Brooklyn II is right around the corner, and Aries is expected to be on the card.
The expectation after his heel turn a few weeks ago is the feud with No Way Jose will continue through Takeover. In fact, Jose cut a promo against Aries during this weeks’ NXT TV tapings.
There are a lot of question marks and some speculation about Austin Aries’ status with NXT right now. We can only hope that this is a situation where we just don’t have enough information to know what is really going on.
