Earlier this week, former WWE Champion Sheamus, appeared on 98 Rock Baltimore to discuss some of the aspects of his career, including winning King of the Ring and competing in the ring, not even twenty-four hours removed from a TLC match.
You can read the interview right here. Below are the highlights:
On performing the night after competing in a TLC match:
“It’s just what we do. You know, we put on the greatest show possibly imagined. And with a lot of passion, a lot of fire, and with a lot of pride in what we do. And, you know, certain boxers and certain UFC fighters, they’ll have a fight every six months, we literally go, including live events, six days a week or five days a week. And you just have passion for what you do and put your body on the line. It’s what you’ve always wanted to do. That’s the way it is, and when you’re the top of the food chain, like myself the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, you go through hell like I did last night. You know, battered and bruised and your body’s kind of feeling a bit like the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and you know, you get up the next day and go again, that’s what it’s about. And that’s what we accept and what we love to do.”
On becoming a King of the Ring and becoming King Sheamus:
“I tell you what, I get a lot of slack over the King thing, but man, I got a deadly action figure out of that, and I’m still proud of that. I went out and bought all that stuff myself when I saw they were gonna give me that Burger King crown and the red cape and stuff. I was like, here: like Bedknobs & Broomsticks stuff like no way I was wearing this. So, I went out and got my own stuff made and took the initiative and slash kind of a Lord of The Rings kind of vibe with the Rocky Horror Picture Show.”
