The lawsuit that WWE’s doctor, Chris Amann filed against Colt Cabana and CM Punk after the latter pair released the infamous episode of the “Art of Wrestling” where Punk explained his departure from WWE is moving forward.
During that infamous podcast, Punk went into a good amount of detail about the neglect of WWE’s medical team while he was suffering from a full blown staph infection and wrestling.
Shortly after the podcast was released, WWE’s Dr. Chris Amann filed a lawsuit against both Cabana and Punk for a very large sum of money. Since then, the case has been moving slowly.
Janet Brosnahan is the presiding judge on the case and has allowed it to continue on February 1, 2016. Judge Brosnahan has both allowed and denied requests presented by Dr. Amann. The details of those requests haven’t been released, but some new information on the case has come to light.
The Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court has released new court documents that provided updates on the current status Dr. Amann’s case agains Cabana and Punk.
Meanwhile, Punk and Cabana filed an “Answer to the Complaint Filed” and an “Affirmative Defense.” They are attempting to use a form of legal grounds to seek a dismissal of Amann’s claim. Cabana and Punk are also trying to use these forms to allow what was said during the podcast to be justified.
There will be more as this story develops, but nothing major is likely to break until February.
