He did it again. There are all kinds of championships throughout WWE’s history and some of them are among the most prestigious titles anywhere in the industry. It can mean a lot when the title’s history is rewritten as someone climbs up the charts and takes over records that have been in place for decades. That is the case again, as we might be seeing another all time record come crashing down.

As of Wednesday, Gunther has held the Intercontinental Title for 600 days, extending his record for longest reign in the title’s history. This puts him less than three weeks away from the most combined days as champion all time. Should Gunther hold the title until February 20, he surpass Pedro Morales’ record of 619 days, which was established over the course of two reigns.
His reign has been impressive. Check out Gunther’s time as champion:
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that we have literally never seen before, as we could be seeing Gunther take probably the two most important records in the title’s history (at least with regards to one reign). Ther eis little reason to not let him have this record as well, but it leaves some questions for where things go next. I’m not sure who is going to take the title from Gunther, but it is going to be a big deal when it happens.
