That’s a big spot. There are all kinds of people who work behind the scenes to make a wrestling television broadcast work. Some of these names are people who have a history in wrestling in the first place and are often known as wrestlers themselves. That is certainly the case in WWE and now one of those names has received quite a promotion through the company’s ranks.

According to PWInsider.com, Brian James, better known as Road Dogg, has been promoted to the co-lead writer of SmackDown. James will be leading the writing team with John Swikata, who was named the show’s new head writer last year. James’ current stint with WWE began in August 2022 when he was brought back to the company as Senior Vice President Of Live Events.

Opinion: This is something that makes for an interesting change of pace and it should be interesting to see how the show goes under its new leadership. If nothing else, it makes sense to have someone else helping to write the show now that it has expanded to three hours. James is a wrestling legend who has been around the company for a long time now and this is going to be an even bigger move for him.
