That’s a big one. Title belts have long since been associated with wrestling as they signify the top stars in any promotion. Wrestlers holding titles are seen as bigger names and the big shiny titles make it a lot easier to figure out who is whom. WWE has pushed the idea of title belts being used by other sports as well and now they are tying it in with another major sports association.

According to WrestleVotes, WWE has come to an agreement with the NHL to release NHL commemorative title belts, with the titles likely to be available in the new year. This follows WWE’s similar deal with the NFL, which has seen NFL themed title belts for sale and advertised on WWE television. Neither WWE nor the NHL has officially announced or confirmed such a deal.
On the heels of major success with the NFL in releasing commemorative championship titles of each team, I’m told the WWE & NHL have a deal in place for the same. Expect NHL championships titles to be available thru Fanatics sometime in the new year.

Opinion: WWE has been doing this kind of thing more and more recently and good or them. The titles look cool and if WWE can make some money off of them, that’s even better. If nothing else, maybe there is the chance of bringing in some NHL fans to WWE, which can only help things as well. It’s a cool concept and I could go for something else similar for other sports.
