That’s an important part. There are all kinds of things that come together to make a wrestling match work and some of them are often taken for granted. One of the most important parts is the ring itself, which has to be in good shape for a match to work. However, that will not always be the case and that was on display this week in a bit of a weird situation.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He’s Back: CM Punk’s First WWE Match Officially Announced For Later This Month
This week’s edition of NXT featured a match between Dijak and Eddy Thorpe. Less than a minute into the match, Dijak drove Thorpe into the corner, resulting in the turnbuckle coming unhooked and the top rope falling down. Dijak went on to attack Thorpe with the turnbuckle to draw the disqualification. It is not clear if the broken turnbuckle was part of the original plan for the match.
This was messy. Check out the match, plus what they can do in a functioning ring:
Opinion: Assuming this was real, this is the kind of thing that you do not see happen very often. If that was not the planned finish to the match, well done by Dijak on making things work with quite the big mess going on. The feud seems likely to continue as well so hopefully they can have a match that involves a fully functioning ring, as that is kind of an important thing to have.
