It’s kind of a new day! The New Day won their third WWE Tag Team Titles at “Battleground 2017” when they defeated the Usos. Xavier Woods earned the pinfall for the team with a top rope elbow drop, following Kofi Kingston hitting Trouble in Paradise. The team was interviewed after their win and one member was rather emotional.
In the post-match interview airing on WWE’s YouTube channel, Woods was near tears as he mentioned the pin was the first time he had won the Tag Team Titles for New Day. The discussion also shifted to how inspiring Kingston was to the other members of the team due to the amount of championships he’s won in WWE. Here’s the interview:
The New Day reflect on a special first for Xavier Woods after winning: July 23, 2017
Opinion: While I’m not sure how important it is to have Woods get his first pin to win the Tag Team Titles when the three man team has only won, the discussion of Kingston was quite interesting. He really does probably have more titles than most African American wrestlers of all time (at least outside of the territory system) and I’d love to see him get a World Title reign to close out his career.
Are you glad New Day regained the titles? Which member is your favorite? Let us know in the comments below.
