You knew this one was coming. A few weeks back, Baron Corbin crushed Dean Ambrose underneath a forklift to send a message to the Intercontinental Champion. This was followed by a challenge for a title match at “Wrestlemania XXXIII” but Ambrose was too injured to respond. That changed tonight.
This week on “Smackdown Live”, Ambrose appeared and cost Corbin a match against Randy Orton. Later in the night it was confirmed that Ambrose will defend the title against Corbin at “Wrestlemania XXXIII”. These two have been feuding since Ambrose eliminated Corbin at “Elimination Chamber 2017”.
Opinion: Not exactly a surprise and there’s nothing wrong with that. While the “Wrestlemania XXXIII” card is already bloated to the gills, I’m glad that they’re managing to fit this in. The Intercontinental Title hasn’t been defended in a singles match at Wrestlemania since “Wrestlemania XXVIII” (pre-show doesn’t count) so it’s nice to see a change of pace.
