There’s nothing wrong with a fresh look on things. Wrestling is one of the most interesting fields in the world and something that the mainstream audiences don’t know much about. That theme began to change over the last few years with documentaries on Ric Flair and Andre the Giant, plus the Paige biopic Fighting With My Family. As it turns out, we’re about to get a lot more.
According to Variety.com, the Viceland network will be airing a series of documentaries under the banner title of The Dark Side of the Ring. The series of documentaries will run weekly starting on April 10 at 9pm and ending on May 15. All five will be narrated by Dutch Mantell (better known as Zeb Colter, who was around for more than one of the events documented). Topics announced include:
April 10: Randy Savage and Elizabeth
April 17: Montreal Screwjob
April 24: Bruiser Brody’s Death
May 1: The Von Erichs
May 8: The Death of Gino Hernandez
May 15: The Fabulous Moolah

Opinion: Cool. I’m not sure how good these things are going to be but they’re certainly going to be worth watching as there are some stories in here that haven’t gotten a ton of attention over the years. There’s nothing wrong with an extra look at wrestling history and if they’re well done, we could be seeing a lot more material like this in the future, which is always a good sign.
