Who needs charity? Earlier this year, WWE aired the first season of Mixed Match Challenge, featuring teams competing to win money for a charity of their choice. The same concept was brought back for a second season, but this time there was no mention of a charity. There was no prize mentioned at all actually, but now we know what is up for grabs and it’s a pretty big deal.
As announced on WWE.com, the winners of the second season of Mixed Match Challenge will earn the #30 spots in next year’s Royal Rumble matches, as well as a paid vacation anywhere in the world. This seasons’ tournament finals will be taking place at Tables Ladders And Chairs on December 16. This season has been under a round robin format with everyone facing everyone and a yet to be announced playoff system.
In case you haven’t been watching.
Opinion: I’ve heard worse ideas. This prize is actually a big deal and therefore makes the Mixed Match Challenge finals seem like a big deal. It was cool to have the winners’ charity get money back in the first season, but this is something that could actually make a difference on the wrestling side of things. I know the season hasn’t been the best, but at least now there’s something on the line. That helps a lot and makes things that much more interesting.
