That’s a very long time. Wins and losses mean quite a bit in wrestling as it is difficult to find a reason to care about someone who loses all of the time. It can make a huge difference for a wrestler to finally win a match, no matter how it comes about. This can often be in the form of a big upset, which was the case this week as an incredibly long losing streak came to an end.

This week on Monday Night Raw, Akira Tozawa defeated The Miz. The Miz had been allowed to hand pick Tozawa as his opponent and then lost to him after spending too much time yelling at LA Knight, who was on commentary. This marked Tozawa’s first singles win on television in 2,198 days, as his most recent victory had been over Neville on the August 14, 2017 Monday Night Raw.
Tozawa has had his moments. Check out what he has done in WWE:
Opinion: This was quite the upset and it was nice to see Miz lose due to his own mistake rather than anyone interfering. It’s hard to imagine this being some turning point for Tozawa, but he is someone talented enough to keep around on the roster. It would be nice to see him getting even a bit more focus and maybe this is the kind of thing that gives his career a boost.
