It’s not? In recent months, WWE has made an extra strong effort to move into more international markets. This would allow WWE to reach new fans and revenue streams, which is the goal of any company. They will be making quite the effort next month in one of the biggest markets in the world, but it might not be as simple of a concept as you would expect.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: It’s Coming: Reported Feeling Of “Gloom And Doom” Backstage in WWE Over Likely Layoffs

WWE has announced that they will be presenting a special event in India on September 8 called Superstar Spectacle. According to PWInsider.com, the show is currently not expected to be broadcast on television or any streaming service and will likely be a live event. There is still a chance that this could change and that the event could be broadcast locally in India or on another service.

John Cena will wrestle on the show with an opponent to be named. Other names advertised for the show include Seth Rollins, Rhea Ripley, John Cena, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Gunther, Jinder Mahal, Veer, Sanga, Drew McIntyre, Becky Lynch, Natalya, Matt Riddle, Ludwig Kaiser and Odyssey Jones. In a related story, WWE is interested in expanding NXT into India as well.

WWE has been to India before. Check out some of its moments there:

Opinion: This is a bit of a surprise as it makes sense for WWE to want to expand into India, but at the same time, one might wonder why the company would not want to showcase the event to a wider audience. WWE knows how to present live events and they can bring one heck of a show to India, so why not let it be seen elsewhere? The thousands of fans in the arena will have a good time, but why not showcase the event to more people?
