McMahon was recently interviewed by Fortune.com, which focuses on how WWE grows by learning from its fans. The article talks about how WWE learns what its fans want in real time and the importance of NXT, which is said to be what determines who makes it to the next level. Here are some quotes:
“We’re taking feedback in real time.”
On NXT:

“Our audience tells us what they love, what they don’t like, and—worst—what they don’t care about.”

Here’s McMahon at one of those events that the fans wanted:
Opinion: McMahon isn’t wrong that the fans often dictate what happens, but I don’t know how many people would actually believe that’s all that matters. There are several factors to what goes into WWE programming, many of which we would probably never think of nor care about. We’ve heard this mentality for years and in those same years, we’ve also had discussions about how fans are never listened to. There’s a middle ground for sure, and that’s where we’ve always lived.
