Seth Rollins Says He Wants to Face Shawn Michaels

That certainly would have potential. Seth Rollins appeared on “the Gorilla Position” podcast and spoke about wanting to face Shawn Michaels. Rollins is the second current star to speak about wanting to face Michaels in a match after recent rumors of WWE trying to get Michaels to face AJ Styles. Here’s the transcript of Rollins’ comments, courtesy of the Sun by way of 411mania.com:

“If he’s ever coming out of retirement it better be at WrestleMania. Kudos to AJ for giving it a shot but he can take a backseat,” Rollins said.”I would like that match before he gets his hands on Shawn. A lot of people would pay good money to see Shawn and AJ .Me and AJ might have to fight it out. Winner gets Shawn.”

The odds of this happening are still very low as Michaels, who retired in 2010 has made it very clear that he isn’t interested in coming out of retirement to face anyone. In theory Styles and Rollins would be talking about facing Michaels either at “Royal Rumble 2017” or “Wrestlemania XXXIII”, the former of which takes place in Michaels’ hometown of San Antonio, Texas.

At this point, this is nothing but fantasy booking and there’s nothing wrong with that. For the life of me I can’t imagine Michaels ever coming out of retirement and that’s probably the best for everyone. Michaels is fifty one years old and hasn’t wrestled in over five years. While it’s entirely possible he could still perform at a high level, there’s no shame in not wanting to potentially embarrass himself on the huge stage.
