I mean….really? Last week news broke that Colt Cabana was suing CM Punk over legal fees from their trial against WWE doctor Chris Amman. The issue seemed to see the end of their long running friendship, which was one of the most well known in wrestling today. However, as bad as it would be to have the two of them split, there may be one entity that is very happy with the news: the WWE.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, there is a chance that WWE brought Cabana into the lawsuit in the hopes that he and Punk would have issues during the trial. If that was the plan, it seems to have worked as Cabana and Punk did in fact split, causing the lawsuit that Cabana filed against him. The idea was to have Punk lose in the end, with Cabana playing a role in causing the issues. WWE wasn’t concerned with Cabana and its main target was always Punk.
Here’s part of where it all started.
Opinion: I have no idea if this is true or not, but egads what a mess this could be if it’s actually true. There are millions of dollars at stake here and more importantly, two friends are split up because of the whole situation. I know WWE isn’t thrilled with what Punk did to them, it’s rather sad to think of how far this may have gone. I’m hoping Meltzer is wrong about this one, because it would be horrible if true.
Do you think this story is true? How nuts would it be if WWE did this? Let us know in the comments below.
