This isn’t a good time. Last month, Seth Rollins won the men’s Royal Rumble to become the new #1 contender to Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship with a title match coming up at WrestleMania 35. With such a position comes a lot more issues though, and one of those issues has crept up on him. It’s established that Rollins is banged up at the moment, but just how bad is it?
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, there is a chance that Rollins is hurt worse than WWE is admitting. While there are no specifics on how bad Rollins’ back injury is, Meltzer compared him to Kurt Angle before WrestleMania 19 in 2003, which was Angle’s last match for about five months. Rollins wrestled the night after the Royal Rumble but isn’t scheduled to wrestle again until April at the earliest.
When Rollins is healthy, he can do this. Check out some of his Rumble highlights:
Opinion: If Rollins really is hurt that badly, the time off is going to do him a lot of good. Fans know how talented Rollins really is and it would be a shame to see his career shortened just to push up a match like this a little bit more. A fresh Rollins could give Lesnar an incredible match in April and it would be awful if he didn’t get the chance to shine on the biggest stage.
