That could have been huge. One of the biggest stories that fans are looking forward to see develop as we head into 2019 is the potential All Elite Wrestling. The group that might be started by Cody Rhodes and the Young Bucks seems to be ready to start things up and make a run on their own, but at the same time, there are still a lot of complications to go. One of them almost got a lot bigger.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the ownership of All Elite Wrestling recently passed on a chance to buy Impact Wrestling. While there is no word on who in Impact Wrestling was willing to make the sale, it is said to have been turned down by All Elite rather than Impact Wrestling’s current owners of Anthem Sports. Anthem recently announced that Impact Wrestling was moving to the Pursuit Channel in January, of which Anthem owns a piece.
Cody does have some history with the company. Check out his debut there, which made quite a splash:
Opinion: I’m not sure what to make of the entire All Elite Wrestling thing. The indy scene is currently overflowing with talent and is this group really supposed to be able to take over the whole thing with either the same talent in all the other indies or a group of unknowns? I’m really not sure how that is supposed to work, but it would seem to be better than buying a company with the history of Impact Wrestling.
