One down? Last weekend, WWE presented its annual Royal Rumble event, which serves as the unofficial start to the Road To WrestleMania. The show’s two namesake matches help set up two of the biggest matches on the WrestleMania card, often including main events. It can make for a big moment when the winners make their decisisons and we kind of got those this week.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Two Free Agents Officially Sign With SmackDown
This week’s SmackDown featured both Royal Rumble winners making announcements. First, Bayley announced that she would challenge Iyo Sky for the WWE Women’s Title. This came after Bayley overheard Sky and the rest of Damage CTRL mocking her, leading to a brawl and the announcement. Later, Cody Rhodes confronted WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, but said he would NOT be challenging Reigns. Instead, Rhodes brought out the Rock, who stared at Reigns to end the show. Neither Rhodes nor Rock has been confirmed as Reigns’ challenger, and Rhodes did not say what he would be doing at WrestleMania.
It was a busy night. Check out what happened and how we got here:
Opinion: Getting the easy part out of the way first: Bayley challenging Sky makes sense and leaves Rhea Ripley to face someone else. On the other hand, it seems like we are going to be seeing Rock vs. Reigns and Rhodes doing something else. What that something else is matters, but for now we are getting the biggest possible match and that is a very good thing.
