Do it again? Retirement in wrestling does not work like other sports, as wrestlers can often hang around years if not decades past their primes on lower level shows. It creates several more openings for wrestlers to stay in the ring if they choose, but it also allows for wrestlers to return after some time away. Now a former major star is at least open to such a return.

Former Ring Of Honor World Champion Nigel McGuinness was a guest on the Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestling podcast. When asked about a potential return to the ring, McGuinness said that it was the million dollar question. McGuinness said that he can feel his strengths at this point in his life but “wouldn’t rule it out 100%”. He also said “there’s always that part of you that wants to have that final moment, but sometimes, cooler and smarter heads have to prevail.” McGuinness, 47, last wrestled on December 17, 2011 and has mainly focused on broadcasting since retiring.
McGuinness had an amazing career. Check out some of his time in the ring:
Opinion: While I’ve always wanted to see McGuinness have a big run in a major promotion, he is probably too late for something like that to happen. At the same time, I could see him getting some good enough shape for one more run, either in a single match or a few of them here or there, just so he could wrap it up with one more go. Either way, his talent is certainly not in question and his legacy is already intact, even after being away for so long.
