It fell apart. There have been some changes to WWE in recent months and some of them involve ideas that the company has not presented before. Some of these ideas are better than others and do not work as well as they might have seemed in the planning stages. That was the case on Saturday and while you might not have noticed it, the idea was abandoned during a match in progress.

On Saturday at Summerslam, Seth Rollins was serving as guest referee for the match between CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre. During the match, Rollins took off a battery pack that had been seen on his belt. According to Fightful Select, this was the battery pack the referee camera that WWE had been using during the night. There is said to be no heat on Rollins, as WWE knew there was a chance that the pack could fall off at some point. WWE is planning to use the camera for upcoming matches, particularly for replays.
It was busy. Check out the match plus other referee moments:
Opinion: This is one of those things that happens every so often and thankfully it doesn’t seem to have gotten Rollins in trouble. The other thing is that this isn’t likely to be a normal problem, as Rollins was going to be doing a lot more in the match than the usual referees. The referee camera is a fun idea and if it isn’t a problem for regular referees, let them see how it goes.
