He did it! There are all kinds of wrestlers in the world but only a few actually make it to the top level of a promotion. They might win titles or championships, but winning the World Title is what matters most more often than not. Sometimes you will see a wrestler take a very long time to get there, but this time around is one of the longest waits you will find in any situation.

Alex Shelley defeated Steve Maclin to win the Impact Wrestling World Title This Friday at Impact Wrestling’s Against All Odds event. Shelley, 40, has been appearing for Impact Wrestling on and off since June 2004. He received his first ever shot at the World Title last August when he was defeated by Josh Alexander. Shelley is also a former X-Division and Tag Team Champion.

Opinion: There are certain moments in wrestling that feel special and this is one of them. Shelley has been in Impact Wrestling for the better part of twenty years now and is a legend in the company. The build to Shelley’s title challenges have been so good that it would have been sad to see him not win the title. It’s a special moment and I’m very glad to see it happen.
