No says the Professor. Impact Wrestling has been around for a long time now with Sunday’s “Slammiversary 2017” marking their fifteen year anniversary. One of the constants for the first ten or so years was Mike Tenay, who was a longtime voice of WCW as well. It would make sense to have him back for an anniversary show, but that’s not going to be the case.

According to the “Wrestling Observer Newsletter” by way of Wrestlinginc.com, Tenay was offered a chance to call the show but turned it down for unknown reasons. The show will feature Tenay’s former partner Don West and former ESPN broadcaster Robert Flores on commentary due to regular broadcasters Josh Matthews and Jeremy Borash taking part in a match later on the show.

TNA: Mike Tenay Interview With Mick Foley

Opinion: It’s not a good sign when your signature voice of all those years won’t be on the anniversary show. That being said, at least West will be there to give the show a bit of an old time feeling. I’d love to have Tenay back for one night but maybe he has reasons for not wanting to do it.
