Maybe? Commentary is one of the most important parts of any wrestling show as the team serves as the guide for the fans. The broadcast team tells the fans what they should know and help tell the story the promotion wants them to see. It can make a difference to have the right kind of commentators and it can be a big deal when a good commentator shows up again. That might be the case again in the future.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Him Too? Former World Champion Backstage At AEW Collision
Former WWE broadcaster Pat McAfee has posted on Twitter, referencing a recent poll in the Atlantic saying that 49% of viewers did not like his work on ESPN’s College Gameday. McAfee said that as a result, he has not signed a new deal with the show as he will finish out the season and “then see what the future holds”. McAfee left his full time role as a SmackDown commentator in part due to the College Gameday commitments, though this DOES NOT mean he will be working with WWE more going forward. While he is no longer a full time commentator, McAfee has made appearances with WWE, including this month at Fastlane.
This has been brought to my attention more than a few times over the last few days.. I’ve never been friends with a human that reads The Athletic so I’m not 100% sure what style of human these 3100 folks are but..

McAfee has had a run in WWE. Check out some of his time there:
Opinion: In short, if McAfee wants to return to WWE, it is hard to imagine that they won’t bring him back, at least in some way. McAfee is still one of the biggest media personalities going today and having him on WWE programming is a big get. At the same time, there are always going to be fans who don’t care for him, but that has never stopped WWE from having some people on commentary before.
What do you think of McAfee’s time in WWE? Will he be back on commentary? Let us know in the comments below.
